band agreement

Welcome to the Ten to One program! By becoming a member of this band, you adhere to the following agreement and you are expected to uphold the following standards to ensure a successful and enriching experience for everyone involved. Please read the agreement carefully.

1. Punctuality and Readiness

  • Arrive by 9:45 AM to be ready to play at 10:00 AM sharp. This ensures that rehearsals start on time and are productive.

  • Consistent lateness will be addressed and may affect your standing in the band.

2. Commitment

  • Students are required to enrol and make an upfront payment for a minimum of two terms. This ensures proper preparation for showcases at the end of Term 2 and Term 4, which is crucial for the band's cohesion and development.

  • Attendance is mandatory. If you must miss a rehearsal, notify Jesse or Tina in advance via email or text.

3. Practice

  • Dedicate time to practice your parts outside of scheduled band rehearsals. This independent practice is essential for individual improvement and collective progress.

  • Come to rehearsals prepared, having learned your parts, so time can be spent on polishing and tightening the chosen songs rather than learning your parts.

4. Communication

  • Show dedication by actively communicating with other band members. This helps avoid the doubling of parts and ensures everyone knows their role.

  • Utilise group chats, emails, or meetings to coordinate with your bandmates regularly.

5. Memorisation

  • Memorise all assigned songs by the end of the first term. This allows the band to focus on refining performance techniques and dynamics in the second term.

  • Failure to memorize parts by the deadline will result in additional practice sessions and possible reassignment of parts.

6. Fair Experience

  • Ensure that all members receive a fair experience by contributing equally and supporting your bandmates.

  • Respect each other’s ideas and efforts to create a positive and inclusive environment.

8. Instrument Responsibility

  • Bring your instrument to every rehearsal and the showcase. Ensure your instrument is in good working condition.

  • In case of emergencies, instrument hire can be arranged, but this should be a last resort.

9. Conduct

  • Exhibit kindness, dedication, and collaboration at all times. Your behaviour reflects on the entire band and the academy.

  • Professional conduct is expected during all rehearsals, communications, and performances.

10.  Additional Expectations

  • Rehearsal Etiquette: Follow the rehearsal schedule, listen to the coaches, and participate actively. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

  • Performance Preparation: Attend all dress rehearsals and additional practice sessions leading up to the showcase.

11. Costs

By enrolling in band, the three hour band program fees cover the costs for room hire, cleaning, equipment and instrument hire, food, amenities, power, and insurance. As part of enrolling in the band program, participants will have access to two dedicated coaches, Jesse and Tina, who will guide them throughout the program.

11a. Showcase Ticket

  • Purchase your ticket for the showcase event, which covers costs associated with hosting a professional event, including food, venue, sound and equipment hire, and staffing.

  • The ticket price will be communicated in advance, and all members must purchase their tickets by the specified deadline.

By enrolling into the band program, you agree to adhere to the expectations outlined above and commit to contributing to a positive and productive band experience.
